Declaration of Afghanistan Independent Bar Association in Exile Regarding the Enforcement of the Taliban’s “Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” Law
The Afghanistan Independent Bar Association in Exile expresses deep concern over the adoption and enforcement of the “Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” law by the Taliban. The association emphasizes that this law leads to gross violations of the fundamental rights and individual freedoms of the Afghan people, particularly women, and will have severe consequences for the country’s future. According to this law, women are required to cover their entire bodies and faces, and men are prohibited from hearing women’s voices. It also bans women from wearing thin, short, and tight clothing, allowing them to leave their homes only in cases .
